James Roark Jacksonville Therapy FL

HI, i’M James.

I’m the owner of Jacksonville Therapy. As a therapist, I show up as my authentic self. While I deeply value my experience and theoretical orientation, I consider the trust, connection, and comfort between a client and their therapist to be just as important. My clients appreciate a therapist who is genuine, compassionate, non-judgmental, willing to offer honest feedback, jokes, and is just…human.

In my practice, I help motivated individuals and couples who are ready for change. I understand that a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy is ineffective because each individual and couple is unique. My therapeutic approach is grounded in a humanistic foundation, more specifically Christian humanism, which is rooted in Judeo-Christian values. I incorporate evidence-based therapy modalities, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI).

For couples therapy I use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Attachment Theory, and principles from The Gottman Institute.

People who work with me find a genuine and relatable therapist who goes beyond just asking, “How does that make you feel?”
